Walk into closing day prepared, not scrambling.
Closing day is mostly signatures, but showing up prepared keeps it from feeling chaotic. Most closings take an hour or two, and at the end of it, you'll walk out with keys. One safety note: before sending money, confirm your wire instructions by phone using a number you've independently verified (from a document or official source, never one in the wiring email itself) — closing wire fraud is common.
Checklist
- Government-issued photo ID (and a second ID, just in case)
- Cashier's check or confirmed wire for your cash to close
- A copy of your purchase agreement and Closing Disclosure
- Proof of your homeowners insurance
- Your patience, and maybe someone to celebrate with after
