Setting up utilities transfer
Make sure the lights are on (literally) when you walk through the door.
Set these up about a week before closing so there's no gap in service, and so you're not standing in a dark, hot house on move-in day wondering why nobody told you about this part.
Checklist
- Electricity and gas
- Water and sewer / trash service
- Internet and cable
- Mail forwarding with USPS
- Update your address with banks, employers, and subscriptions
